Escuela Uno
A grassroots art school in Libertad, a small village outside Nauta in the Peruvian Amazon. Escuela Uno is a simple open-air space near the main school, where kids gather to draw, paint, enter art competitions, win prizes, and make things with their hands. Founded by tattoo artist Pete Tran (“PetesOnEarth”).
What happens there
It works more like a village studio than a formal classroom.
When Pete is in the village, he works with the kids on drawing, painting, and hands-on creative practice.
Provide school uniforms, art supplies, learning materials, and support for the main school.
Organize village-wide art competitions with prizes, supported through the school and teachers.
Collaborate with elders on a visual plant guide so children can learn and remember traditional plant uses from their own environment.
Current status
Escuela Uno is active.
An open-air studio in Libertad where village children draw, paint, and enter school-supported art competitions. Art materials, uniforms, and prizes are funded through the One Tattoo model, and photos and field notes are shared as families consent.
A hut, some supplies, local teachers, and kids ready to make things.
